Green Day
February 17, 2011On the 17th of Feb 2011 Old Moat had a green day. The day turned out to be very green. As all the students and staff came in thier greenest clothes.
A raffle has been going on for the past two weeks to raise money for our outdoor class room and green area.
The winners of the raffle are:
Tenpin bowling tickets – Anacarla Class 9
A signed Manchester United programme – Sean Class 13
A family meal at Nando’s – Charlotte Class 11
A designer purse – Rabia Class 10
Calendar and diary – Morgan Class 8
Box of chocolates – Joe Class 8

I love green heroes.
December 9, 2010The green heroes are a team of children who work to make old moat school a great place to go and learn. We have environmentally friendly teams like the gardeners and energy savers. I love being a green hero from the bottom of my heart and I hope the others do too.

What’s it like to be a green hero? by Ellie

My name is Ellie and I’m a green hero and my job is selling fruit at play time. The money we earn, is going to the school’s profit. So we can by new equipment for the school. I enjoy selling fruit because its good to know that your raising money, not for yourselves but for the school. Mrs Hinds who is in-charge of green heroes, finds spare time to go out and buy fruit. Aisha our finance manager pays her back for the fruit she bought. In the safe right now, we have raised £58.31. Soon we will able to buy new equipment for our school. Also were going to build an out door class room for our school, and a bugs hotel for little bugs to live in. I joined because its fun and its great for the school.

What’s it like to be a green hero? by Ellen
November 25, 2010I work in the pets corner and care for our two Swiss guineapigs Barney and Buster. I enjoy feeding them and holding them while their cage is being cleaned out. In the Spring we will let them have a little run around outside. There are different kinds of green heroes. Some are recyclers, gardeners, fruit sellers, litter pickers, inside gardeners and lots more. I became a green hero because it’s fun and it helps our school be the greenest. We all work very hard to make our school green. We raise money and at the moment have fifty eight pounds in our safe. When the fruit sellers sell the fruit we grow, it all goes into our school profit. Mrs Hinds is the leader of the green heroes because she created them. I think all schools should have green heroes too.

What’s it like to be a green hero? by Aisha

My name is Aisha and I’m a green hero and the money that the fruit market make i always count it to see how much profitwe have made. As finance manger i also help preparethe fruit to go out to the playground at break-time. Mrs Hinds ,who is in-charge of the green heroes, buys the fruit for our market and give me the receiptsso i can pay her back out of the fruit money. Also if we have quite allot of money i put some money in our safe so far we have raised £58.31. Hopefully we will be able to buy some more equipment and use the money for our outdoor class room in a years time. since i joined green heroes i learnt quite a lot about the environment and it makes me more eager to help.I think other school should do the same as us and the will be able to help the environment.
